Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 oz / 170 g each, 1 to 1 1/4 inches thick
  • 1 tbsp olive or avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp honey optional
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Diamond Crystal kosher salt or 1/2 tsp table salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • lemon wedges and fresh dill or parsley to serve

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Instant-read thermometer
  • Thin spatula

Method

  1. Pat the salmon very dry and tuck any thin tail ends under so the fillets are even.
  2. Mix the oil, honey, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper, and brush it over the tops and sides of the fillets.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3 to 5 minutes and lightly oil the basket.
  4. Add the fillets skin side down in a single layer with space between them. Air fry 7 to 10 minutes without flipping, checking from 6 minutes.
  5. Cook to 145°F (63°C) in the thickest part, or 125°F to 130°F if you prefer a medium center. Rest 2 to 3 minutes and serve with lemon and herbs.

Notes

Thin fillets take 5 to 7 minutes; 1 1/2-inch fillets take 10 to 13 minutes at 375°F. From frozen: 5 minutes plain, then season and cook 7 to 10 minutes more. Refrigerate leftovers 3 to 4 days. Calories are an estimate per fillet from USDA FoodData Central values for farmed Atlantic salmon.
